Meet The Photographer
Based in the vibrant city of Cape Town, South Africa, I’m Sean Lourens, the passionate photographer behind Snapshot Photography. I specialize in landscape and sports photography, and although my professional journey began in 2024, my fascination with the art has spanned many years.
From an early age, I was captivated by the beauty of the world around me, especially the rugged mountains and crashing oceans of my home country. With a camera in hand, I discovered a way to freeze these fleeting moments of wonder, sharing them with others and allowing them to see the world through my eyes.
In a world increasingly saturated with AI-generated content and heavy filters, I take a different path. I believe a photograph should be a window to reality, not a distortion of it. My editing style is minimalist and purist; I strive to keep every image true to what the eye saw and what the heart felt.
Photography Approach & Philosophy
I believe in capturing moments in their most natural state, free from forced poses or artificial enhancements. With a minimalist editing approach, I keep my images as true to reality as possible, offering a refreshing contrast in a world filled with heavy editing and AI-generated visuals. For me, the beauty lies in the rawness of nature and the thrill of adventure. Whether it’s the tranquil sweep of a mountain range or the adrenaline of a sporting event, my goal is always to reveal the authenticity and emotion behind every shot.
My approach to photography is about connecting deeply with the environment or subject, anticipating the right moment, and capturing it without distraction. I like to frame the shot in my mind long before I press the shutter button. Preparation is key, it ensures that the photos I deliver truly reflect the spirit of the moment. Great photography isn’t just about what happens when the shutter clicks; it’s about everything that leads up to that instant.
“Luck” in photography is usually just preparation meeting opportunity. My ritual begins days before a shoot. Whether I’m covering a trail race or working on a commercial assignment, I study the route or location, analyze the light I can expect, plan logistics and parking, and note any branding or composition requirements. By the time I arrive on site, I already have a very good idea of the images I want to create.
This meticulous preparation means that when the moment happens, whether it’s a runner cresting a peak or the perfect sunset, I’m ready to capture it with complete focus and without distraction.

Commercial & Real Estate I apply the same rigorous preparation and eye for composition to corporate, business, and real estate photography. I help businesses present themselves with clarity, professionalism, and authenticity.
A Passion for the Outdoors
Outside of photography, I’m an avid trail runner and cyclist, spending much of my time in the mountains. My love for the outdoors is integral to my work, and it’s in these wild, unspoiled spaces that my passion for photography truly began.
